About Nasal Fractures

A nasal fracture or broken nose occurs when the cartilage or bone is cracked, moved or crushed.

They should be evaluated by a surgeon within seven to ten days of injury.

What Causes Nasal Fractures?

Contact with a solid object can cause a break or crack in your nose. Contact sports and motor vehicle accidents are the most common causes of a broken nose.

What Are The Symptoms Of Nasal Fractures?

Pain, swelling, and nose bleeds are common symptoms of a broken nose. If you have a nasal injury that leads to difficulty breathing, unstoppable bleeding, and a noticeable change in the shape of your nose then you should seek medical attention as soon as possible. To confirm a nasal fracture, your doctor will do either a CT scan or a physical exam.

Nasal Fracture Repair

Repairing a broken nose may involve either a simple procedure to reposition the broken bones or a more complex surgery that involves realigning the bones and nasal tissue.
