About Chronic Sinusitis (Chronic Sinus Infection)
Chronic Sinusitis, or chronic sinus infections, occur when the patient has been battling swollen or inflamed areas in the nose and head for three or more months. These can take place through infection, unusual growths in the sinuses (similar to nasal polyps), or through the swelling in the lining of the sinuses. The symptoms for chronic sinusitis are very similar to acute sinusitis, but the symptoms are prolonged for chronic sinusitis. If you have already seen your doctor for acute sinusitis, the infection does not react to treatment, or if you have sinusitis for longer than 10 days, you may want to take action towards treating it as chronic sinusitis.
